It’s been one of those months. You know the kind; the let-me-slick-my-hair-back-because-it-looks-horrible-I-don’t-have-anything-to-wear-I-guess-I’ll-wear-black-every-single-day kind of months. I decided to step out of my lil’ woe is me mode and actually wear some color and a bit o’sparkle. Oh, and I decided to snap my photos outside of a Carniceria (a Mexican meat market).

I don’t recommend everyone’s brooches and doodads, but I am in love with Mrs. Darcy’s items. I was so pleased when she sent me this brooch; the myriad of colors and the smooth, soft velvety material makes this one of my favorite accessories. In fact, I pretty much based my entire outfit around the brooch. When I saw the brooch lying on my dresser I knew that I wanted to wear it and I had to find clothes to fit the brooch—and I did.

Last year sequins were everywhere. I’m a fan of shiny and sparkly, so I made quite a few sequined purchases. One of my much loved sequin purchases of late 2009/early 2010 happens to be a cashmere skirt with hand sewn sequins; this isn’t one of my cheaper purchases, but I justified the purchase because I knew that it would be hard for me to find a similar skirt elsewhere.
I paired the skirt with a shirt ($2) and tights ($3.50 and they are still on sale!) I picked up at Target, a Forever 21 jacket ($6), and Vince Camuto heels (gift from boyfriend).
Thanks to Mrs. Darcy, I was able to claim my color groove back on February 13, 2011.
How do you incorporate color into your wardrobe?
I love that skirt!! It’s adorable! Great look!
Thank you, Natalie!
Va-va-voom!(I don’t know why I said that I just thought of it when I saw your outfit hehehe) You look fantastic, I love your skirt it’s so J. Crew and the color combination excellent, I love bright colors anytime. =D
This outfit is so right on so many levels. I can’t even tell you how amazing you look!!
(Jumps up and down) You darling look fantabulous! The colors rock. I’m a huge color fan. I’m always trying to be darking with color combo. The shoes…oh those shoes are needed, a must have :0) Where did you rock this look to? I need my local Target to get it right with the colored tights (sale, color and size).
Love the sequins and all the color! It’s fabulous!
Shey, va-va-voom…that made me laugh! Funny, I also thought the skirt was very J Crew. I always get sad when J Crew doesn’t have knee length skirts. Last year they had SO! MANY! great sequin skirts, but nothing that fit my skirt requirement.
Goose, THANK YOU!
Kerissa, I just came from church! Get to Target ASAP. They had TONS of great tights for $3.50 each.
Vanessa, In a way I’m channeling you! You’re always wearing nifty colors, prints, and textures!
Chandra
I bought a sequin skirt in November and still haven’t worn it. I should’ve worn it last week when I went out but I didn’t. Now you make me want to pull it out for a great weekend outfit. Love all your colors!!
I’m sorry but every time I see this picture I think of a homeless schizophrenic bag lady. Sometimes there is a thing as too much.
Andrea, are you REALLY sorry? There’s no need to apologize for your own personal opinion.
