What goes around comes around, ladies, and this spring you will see a mixture of 60s shifts, floor sweeping 70s inspired maxi dresses and disco prints, bright citrus colors, and full skirts. Trends make me smile. Is there ever anything “new”? Interpretation varies by year and season, but some articles of clothing will continue to cycle through the revolving door known as “fashion”.
I’ve always avoided the full skirt because I feel as though the type of skirt makes me look larger than I actually am. This year, however, I am going to try my hand at wearing a full (or at least semi full) skirt. Anthropologie is chock full of these types of skirts, but before I rack up a bill at that fabulous store, I’m going to hit up my local thrift, vintage, and consignment stores first.
Here is my full skirt check list:

Length:
I plan to channel my inner Goldilocks and look for a full length skirt that is just right: not too long and not too short. A skirt that hits right below the knee is simply perfect.
Print:
I’m a sucker for prints and the majority of skirts at my local vintage and consignment stores have amazing prints; it’s hard to choose a favorite. My goal is to look for prints that are spread apart and not too overbearing.
Shoes:
I’m loving chunky heels and sequined ballet flats. The weather doesn’t start getting too warm until May or so, so tall, sleek riding boots are also appropriate.
Accessories:
Behold the skinny belt! Marc by Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler models trailed the runway in circle skirts and metallic skinny belts. The Anthropologie model can be seen with an extra wide belt.
Tops:
Has Anthropologie ever done anything wrong? I love how their stylists paired oversized button up shirts with full skirts. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and tuck in my blouse.
Will you purchase and wear a full skirt this spring?

“i can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and tuck in my blouse.” me either! seriously. i’m loving full skirts. i have one that hits just above the knee, but i like your idea of going just below the knee, too. so many possibilities, that’s what i love most.

Girl, I am so with you on this trend. I just bought a gorgeous olive green full skirt at Filene’s Basement last week for $24. It hits right below the knee and is a bit high waisted, LOVE IT! I love lady like fashion being on trend.
I am so excited for this trend. Full, print skirts are my favorite kind of vintage!
