As I rifled through my closet to get dressed for work the other day I realized that I had several cardigans and several sleeveless blouses. I became a fan of sleeveless blouses when I realized how easy they were to wear under a blazer or under a cardigan. A sleeveless blouse combined with a cardigan counterpart makes for conventional and trouble-free dressing (i.e. harried teacher waking up late).
The great thing is that you can find sleeveless blouses and cardigans at nearly any store and at any price point. I found nearly six blouses in February at GAP for under $6 each and I found some really great cardigans at Nordstrom around the same time. The cardigan pictured above actually has some really great bead work, but the flash/sunlight masked the intricate design.
The other piece I rely on to tie the cardigan and blouse together? A thin belt. An open cardigan allows any design on the blouse to be visible and the belt also provides a nice layering touch.
What items do you rely on when getting dressed?
Gap Blouse $9
Halogen Cardigan $12
Skirt seen here
TypeZ shoes $18
Gap Belt $3

I only own a few sleeveless shirts and a lot of cardigans, mostly because I usually stick to my rolled up long sleeves but I do love the sleeveless under a cardigan because there’s no bulk from the sleeves, however when I’m hot I have to endure the heat of having to wear the cardigan because I can’t take the cardi off, so maybe that’s the reason I don’t wear or own that many sleveless shirts.
You look adorable by the way! =)
I never owned so many. In fact, last year I owned two cardigans and zero sleeveless blouses. In the summer I tend to stick to one piece dressing: DRESSES. I get hot easily and layers send my temperature to the moon. It’s ridiculous how hot I can get!

I love this look. I’m a fan of belting cardigans.
My go to piece is a fitted blazer. I love throwing it over a pair of skinny jeans or a LBD.
oh that color looks great on you! btw, did you find the Forever 21 skirt?? such a great price!
Cardigans, pencil skirt and a blouse or a dress with a cardigan. Funny you post this, a friend asked me this week if I wear pants or even suits because I wear alot of dresses/skirts.
Checking in on your site, Chandra. Love it. Checked out Shabby Apple too. Blessings, Amy
