Today’s blog post is part four in a five part series; you can read the first blog post here. Sheena is today’s guest blogger.
I think that the one reason I chose these items is due to the fact that I have a back story about these purchases: where I was, why I bought the item, and the circumstances surrounding the purchases. These items were not just financial investments, but they also make a statement.

Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf:
This was my very first McQueen purchase! McQueen was my first introduction into “serious” fashion at age 17. From then on, I was determined to own a McQueen item, no matter how big or small, once I was financially able.
Fast forward 9 years to the untimely death of McQueen. I was crushed and still had not bought one piece despite my intentions. I bought this item soon after as it was one that I’ve always admired.
McQueen was a creative genius and the skull scarf really pales in comparison to the great works of the McQueen designs. In 20 years, I predict McQueen will still be a household name and people will be glad to have a piece–whether it’s a scarf or dress.

Mulberry Purse:
This piece will always remain special to me because it’s my first big fashion purchase when I got my first job! A handbag always seemed sensible due to the fact that a good one will last forever and when I embarked on my search my first choice was a Louis Vuitton handbag (hey, I didn’t know any better). I found this bag tucked away in a corner and immediately fell in love with the color, its practicality, and the super soft leather.
Fast forward 5 years and the bag has aged some, but the leather is even softer. It’s still the bag that I get the most compliments on, even though I’d say it’s my most “boring” bag. I know this will be a hot vintage item in the future, because it’s precisely the type of item that will stay in style forever: well-made, practical and timelessly stylish.

Vintage Balmain Sunglasses:
I bought these glasses because they were so uncharacteristically not something I would ever buy. However, they have become my favorite pair of summer sunnies and they are so cute and fun that people always ask me where I bought them. They were made in the 70′s and definitely have a vintage look to them, but I’d say that these will definitely be in style in 30 years. Even 50.
Do you any of your personal items have a special meaning to you? Do you think that these special pieces will become vintage of the future?

Come back tomorrow! The ever so fabulous Jentine of My Edit Blog will be unveiling the three items that she thinks will be vintage of the future.

Thank you so much for featuring me in this blogger series! It has been an honor to be included and I have really enjoyed reading this entire series. Some really wonderful future vintage pieces have been displayed.
One of my favorite sun glasses was a pair I stole from my mom’s junk drawer from the late 70’s… unfortunately, for the glasses and my face, my sister kicked me in the face while in the pool one year.
You’re welcome, Sheena! Thanks for agreeing to post.
Rachel, I’ve YET to find the perfect pair of vintage sunglasses. I was looking at pictures of my mom from the 70s and early 80s and she ALWAYS had a great pair of sunglasses. Over the years she has amassed several more great pairs; she still won’t let me snag them from her.
Chandra
Great picks! REALLY loving those shades.
