Reader’s Choice: Outfit #3 (Modest Attire for a Wedding)

Who thought I was slightly out of my mind for posting my little “what should I wear poll”? Be honest. I thought I was crazy, too, but I see so many silly things on blog posts I figured that my “Oh, me-oh-my! What ever shall I wear?” wasn’t too outlandish. I didn’t have any emotional ties to any of the outfits, so whatever outfit had the most votes that was the outfit I was going to pack and wear to the Jackson-Lopez wedding. The winner by a mile was outfit #3.

The Jackson-Lopez wedding reminded me why I am super thankful to be a California Girl—THE WEATHER. After a short drive I was instantly transplanted from 95 degree heat (it wasn’t too bad) to an excellent, overcast, breezy, comfortable 71 degrees in Belmont, California. The wedding took place at the Ralston Hall Mansion; it was exclusive and perfect. As you can see from the pictures the landscape is green, lush, and vibrant.

I’ve known Carissa for over 12 years, but we cemented our friendship when we took a trip to New York City back in 2009. I was honored to be invited to her wedding. Carissa was engaged in December, she started wedding planning on January 1st, found her wedding dress in, like, two weekends, and finished the major part of her wedding planning within 3-4 months.

I have the bride’s permission to post pictures from the wedding. Here are a few shots of the modest attire from a few of the wedding party members:

Here’s Vanessa wearing a Shabby Apple dress–backwards. Vanessa and Carissa’s matron of honor did not like how the dress looked when it was worn the “proper way”. So right before the wedding the turned them around. The zipper’s in the front and I love it.

Carissa and her father, Ruben. The wonderful thing about her dress is that there isn’t a BOLERO JACKET! Wedding dresses with sleeves are virtually nonexistent. Many girls opt for boleros; Carissa did not and I am very happy. A seamstress sewed sleeves to the dress. YES.

I didn’t cry when I saw Carissa. I cried when I saw Bobby’s face. The groom made me cry.

The wedding vows. The bride lost her voice earlier this week and regained it Friday morning. Woohoo!

Close up of the dress. The train was bustled for the reception. The veil was also taken up.

Wedding shoes.

Wedding deer.

Just Married. Congrats, Bobby and Carissa!

Beeautiful! I looove the dress worn backwards! and I LOOOVE the dress with sleeves and no bolero. I want my wedding dress to be modest but I am REEEEAlly over bolero jackets that EVERY girl wears with her wedding dress!
