The return of the oxford flat was about two years ago and it was nice to see have options other than sky high when shoe shipping. This year’s cyclical trend and oxford replacement is the penny loafer. The penny loafer cycle has come full circle and they are back for fall. Oddly enough, I’ve been searching for the right pair of penny loafers for over a year and my search has not been a successful one. I guess my options will increase now that the old school shoe is now showcasing its face in every store this fall.
I was very close to snatching up a super cheap pair from Forever 21 a few weeks ago, but I kept my pocket book closed. My goal is to find a weathered vintage pair or splurge on a nice pair that I can keep for years to come. I remember wearing a pair of black patent leather penny loafers (with pennies) to school as a kid. This time around I’ll take a nice chocolate pair or even a spectator-two tones pair o’loafers.
Since may I’ve picked up some phenomenal blazers (all vintage and two for $0.25 each!) while thrifting and I think penny loafers will nicely complement my new stash of blazers.

Rachel Antonoff for Bass; Bass decided to revamp their style and enlisted the help of super cool whimsical designer to update their line of loafers and saddle shoes.
For fall/winter I plan to combine a pair of thick tights with loafers; this Sperry Topsider model looks amazing and this look total sold me.
JCPenney offers a pair of penny loafers by Nine & Co for $40. Not too shabby.
Steve Madden’s version of the loafer is totally channeling Hugh Hefner (can’t you see him wearing these leopard loafers and a silk robe?). I don’t know if I’m completely sold on the style or the print.

I just bought 2 pairs of loafers but with tassels! I was never a penny loafer kind of girl. I pair is brown with blue tassels and the others are leopard! I can’t wait to wear them with tights.
I hope you’re writing a blog post about them! I want to see the leopard loafers! Are they any resemblance to the ones I featured here?

Hefner? hahaha I hadn’t quite pictured that but now I am, eew! hehehehe I actually liked the style a lot but haven’t found some I like, I started buying loafers since January so I’ve acquired a couple of pairs, they are so comfy and preppy. =)
I do like those loafers. while I like all the colors, I am more of a leopard kind gal. I like the versatility and the fact that it can be worn for just about any season.
