Over a week a go I posed a question on MoMoMod’s Facebook page: should I get rid of this dress or make it into a skirt?
Well, I was ready to get rid of the dress because it fell into the “items sitting in my closet that have never seen the light of day” category. After the Facebook post I went ahead and made the dress into a skirt.
Just an Instagram photo taken by Brandon as we were about to leave Half Moon Bay
I wore the skirt yesterday as my outfit 2 for our engagement photos.
While I do love how the skirt turned out, I’m reminding myself to make sure that my purchases make sense. Clearly this dress doesn’t make sense for a girl like me: top heavy, never wears anything sleeveless. The dress works as is. When I bought the dress I knew that I wouldn’t wear it with a shirt underneath because it would kill the initial style of the dress.
At any rate, I’m glad I was able to make use of the dress and I now have another fun birthday cake skirt!
(Note: I bought this dress over a year ago from H&M for $15; if you search eBay for H&M tulle dress, or even H&M dress, you might find it. I looked last week and I found three. Sadly they were all over $40.)
Lovely outfit!
But oh, those shoes…. they’re Darling! I’m really into vintage-styled shoes right now!
I love vintage inspired shoes, and that’s EXACTLY why I bought them. T-strap and low heeled–love!
Your skirt turned out gorgeously!!! I hope you’re glad that you made it into a skirt instead of getting rid of it. I love it!
Hugs, cindy
Thanks, Cindy!
I like it better as a skirt too! It looks so cute on you. And those balloons are awesome.
I can’t wait to see your engagement photos! !!!
Those balloons! I loved them. They could have definitely used some more helium, but they were massive and cool, for sure.
It turned out beautiful! I like it as a skirt better than as a dress. Nice work (^_^)
;o) I like it better as a skirt, too! Thank you, Nikell!
love it! xoxo linds {{www.rubygirlblog.com}}
