Modest Maxi Dress With Sleeves
Oh. Hello there! Fancy meeting you here! School started nearly a month ago, so I have been total consumed with my new babies! Good ol’ sixth grade. I love these kids! I miss last year’s kids, but many of them show up like clock work once the bell rings at the end of the day (to visit…and raid my gummy bears, Starburst, and Skittles stash).

Did I tell you guys about the petition they started? Towards the end of school year, 100+ kids got together and started a petition for me to move up as a 7th grade teacher. It was very, very sweet. I got numerous emails over the summer asking if I was planning on becoming a 7th grade teacher for the 2015-16 school year, and I had to tell them no. When I saw the kids once school started, one of them said, “BUT WE STARTED A PETITION! THIS WAS A DONE DEAL!” I had to explain that that’s not how a petition works. His response? “Ugh. I hate the government.” Hahahahaha

I taught 7th grade two years ago, and woooooo! Seventh graders ain’t no joke, ya’ll! They are the middle children of middle school. Sixth graders are the babies, while 8th graders are the older children. Sixth graders still love you a little tiny bit, and many 8th graders are slightly more mature. Seventh grade? Jesus be a fence of protection! I’m still suffering from 7th grade PTSD! ;0)

This is my fifth year of blogging, and I still can’t figure out the work-blog life balance. I’ve been thinking of changing my blog’s name, but I’ve had absolutely zero ideas about what I’d change it to. Anyone want to pitch in with some ideas?!

Brandon and I celebrated our third year of marriage last Tuesday! Three years. T H R E E. Whewph. And nope. Still no babies. I love how six of my friends text me on our anniversary asking me when I’m going to have children. #realtalk: after teacher 145+ chirrens Monday-Friday, the last thing I want to do is come how to another child! I do NOT know how people do it!

I bought this maxi dress from Amazon last week; I took a chance because it was $26 and free shipping via Amazon Prime, and if it didn’t work out, I could send it back. The reviews were meh. You know how I always complain about those half slips they put under maxi dresses (I mean, seriously. Why bother?)? Well, this dress came with NOTHING! No slip. No lining. Just a sheer dress. I laughed. I just wore a sleeveless tank and one of my trusty jersey knit skirts underneath. If you want to buy this dress, know that it is LONG. I wore heels so it wouldn’t drag the ground, and the sleeves are long, too!

The dress comes in four colors, and you can buy it here.

I’ll be back tomorrow featuring a skirt SevenTwo Denim sent me. Check out their site!

I’m wearing a dress a bought from Amazon last week, a clutch purse I bought from the Alameda Flea right before my wedding three years ago, and some suuuuuper old black sandals (similar below).

After my planner/agenda blog post a few weeks ago, I was set on finding one I liked. I went to Nordstrom and thumbed through this polka dot planner and this striped one, but I ended up not pulling the plug because several dozen reviews said the polka dots rubbed off during the first month and the stripes got dirty pretty quickly.

I ended up buying the smaller version of this planner, and I shared it on Instagram and Facebook. Well, guess what? I ended up not keeping it! 😱 I KNOW! I really, REALLY wanted a spot with times for me to write what I wanted to accomplish during that time frame.

While I was at Target, I found these 5.5 x 8.5 Mara-Mi binders. Right next to the planners were these Avery agenda inserts, so I bought those and some note pages. The daily planner starts at 8 and ends at 5, and I figured that’s okay for now, though I usually start my day around 5:00 A.M. I kept toying around with all of this, and I realized what I really wanted to keep track of are my health and fitness goals and my prayer and Bible reading. I’m not ready to hold on to two different planners, but I figured the Avery inserts would be good for daily and weekly Bible reading and praying, and these printable food and wellness pages would help me stay focused on my health and fitness goals.

I purchased the downloadable file because I want to be able to print them out whenever I want to. Plus, I have access to a printers, copy machines, paper cutters, and hole punchers. Be sure to  take a look at this Etsy find; if you don’t want to print yours, the Etsy seller also offers a notepad version. Read more: Continue reading →

Leopard Maxi Dress
Every time I decide I’ve had enough of eBay, I log back on and end up finding something I like. After a nice lil’ eBay hiatus, I logged back on sometime in January and searched for maxi dresses a couple times a week.

I ended up finding a seller who had multiple maxi dresses for sale, and I bought three of them. I tend to avoid full blown animal print clothing and opt for touches of animal print (leopard/cheetah) on my shoes, scarves, and purses. I couldn’t resist this dress though, soooo I bought it! I actually thought it was a black dress, so I was a bit surprised when I opened up the package.

The only drawback to the dress is the horrible half slip that comes attached to the dress. I haaaaaate those tiny slips with a passion! I’d rather dresses/skirts come without those slips! It’s not like the slips are helping; I ended up wearing one of my stretchy black skirts underneath the dress, and I’ll probably haul out my sewing machine and sew a new slip underneath the dress.

Have a great week! By the way, Mariam is the winner of the HydroChic modest swimwear giveaway! I sent you an email, Mariam, so be sure to reply before 11:59 p.m. tonight!

I’m wearing a dress I found on eBay, and some sandals I bought last year. I cannot for the life of me remember where I bought them!

Ways to Wear a Maxi Dress
Target recently had these 3/4 length sleeve floor length maxi dresses for sale, so I bought one. However, when I got home, I realized that the hem basically fell to the ground. No bueno.

I ended up taking the hem and tying it in a knot, but my final goal is to cut off two inches off and hem the dress.

When I went out of town in May for a few of days, I only took this dress, a pair of heels, a pair of sandals, a kimono top, a chambray shirt, a cross-body purse, and a striped shirt. I easily had four outfits, I didn’t have to pack a ton of stuff, and my husband was very happy.

One question that might cross through your mind is, “If you wear the same thing for three days, how do you keep it clean?”

  • I pack travel Febreze. After wearing the dress during the day, I turn it inside out, hang it up, and spray Febreze on the dress.
  • I use a towel and hot water. Spot cleaning always helps! I add some soap and hot water to a towel, and I clean underneath the armpits and around the collar of the dress.
  • I use Tide To Go Stain Eraser. I bought these at Goodwill on a whim two months ago, and man! They are great! I’m prone to spilling things on me, so I started keeping these Tide To Go Stain Erasers in my cosmetic bag. They are easy to use and attack stains like a boss.
